He is Director of the successful Coventry Chess Academy whose
members have achieved a great number of successes, even at National level
events, in the last year or two as detailed below.
Paul represented
both the England Junior Chess Squad and National Team from under-14 to
under-18 level in Estonia (2001), the Czech Republic (2003 Glorney Cup) and
Liverpool (2005 Glorney Cup). He is a two-time British Chess
Championship Main Event competitor with a peak ECF grade of 201. In addition
to his CCA Directorship, he is the Head Coach of the highly successful
Warwickshire Junior Chess Squad. Fourteen
of his students and CCA members have achieved rankings within the top 10 or
20 players in England for their age groups, three of whom have achieved the
number one, two and three rankings respectively. Two students have
won the prestigious London Junior Chess Championship, three have won British
titles and six have played for the England National Junior Team.'
